Senior Vice Presidents

 

 

 

Steve Dollase

Steve Dollase is a senior vice president with Erickson Retirement Communities and is responsible for human resources, procurement, enterprise risk management and business process improvement.  He previously served as Erickson’s chief information officer.

Prior to joining Erickson, Mr. Dollase served as a consultant with McKinsey and Company in the firm’s Global Operations Practice.  During his tenure with McKinsey, he served a wide variety of large global clients on topics including strategy, business operations, marketing and advertising, and procurement.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Mr. Dollase accumulated twenty years of business experience as a Navy Supply Corps officer where he filled a variety of roles in business operations, finance, supply chain management, procurement, information technology, business process improvement, and strategy.  He retired from the Navy as a commander.

Mr. Dollase holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton Business School, where he majored in finance; a master’s degree in Science, with distinction, from the Naval Postgraduate School, where he completed a double major in procurement and finance; and a bachelor’s degree in Science from Valparaiso University, where he majored in accounting.  He serves on the board of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Kevin Glover

Senior Vice President of Development Services

Mr. Glover is the Senior Vice President of Development Services for Erickson Retirement Communities. He directs the in-house team of architects, planners, engineers, and facility management specialists. Together, they define the corporate spatial program, design, and quality standards for both new and existing Erickson communities.

He also manages the overall development, design, and construction efforts of the Erickson Foundation.

Mr. Glover has over 29 years of professional experience and has been with Erickson for more than 21 years.

Mr. Glover holds a B.S. in architecture from Cornell University. He has been an integral part of many award-winning projects and has lectured and published articles on retirement community design. He is a charter member and past president of the Ellicott City Sunrise Rotary Club in Maryland.

Eric Gross

Regional Executive Director, Mid-Atlantic Region

Mr. Gross is the Regional Executive Director for Erickson Retirement Communities. He has been with Erickson for more than 12 years and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Erickson communities in the mid-Atlantic region and in Illinois.

Prior to taking on these responsibilities, Mr. Gross spent two years as the Senior Vice President of Community Operations, two years as the Regional Vice President for the mid-Atlantic region, four years as the Executive Director for Oak Crest in Parkville, Maryland, and a year as the Associate Executive Director of Oak Crest.

Before joining Erickson, Mr. Gross spent ten years in the health care division of Electronic Data Systems Corporation (EDS), where he implemented the first centralized national account processing system. This system processed health care claims for General Motors, AT&T, Kmart, and more than 300 other geographically dispersed businesses. He graduated with honors from the University of California at San Diego with degrees in management science and psychology.

Gary D. Hibbs

Regional Executive Director, Northeast Region

Mr. Hibbs is the Regional Executive Director for Erickson Retirement Communities in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He is responsible for the daily operations at Cedar Crest in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, and he provides supervisory support for the operation of other communities in his region.

Prior to joining Erickson, Mr. Hibbs served as administrator of Wellington Manor, a long-term care facility in Ohio, and he practiced law with the Senior Citizen Law Project in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Mr. Hibbs has an M.S.W. and a J.D. from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, and he is a certified L.G.S.W. He received his nursing home administrator license while working with Global Health Management.

Kerry Jones

Senior Vice President of Operations

Mr. Jones joined Erickson in 1992 to be the Assistant to the Executive Director at Charlestown in Catonsville, Maryland, the company’s first campus. In 1993, he moved to Dearborn, Michigan, to take on the role of Health Services Director for Henry Ford Village, Erickson’s second campus. In 1997, he returned to the Baltimore area and started the Operations Management function for the company, which focused on supporting the company’s growth. In May of 2000, he became the Associate Executive Director for Riderwood in Silver Spring, Maryland, and later served as the Executive Director.   

Prior to working with Erickson, Mr. Jones worked for Shell Oil Co. in the marketing division for two years. Additionally, he was a youth minister for middle school students at a local Baltimore-area church for two years while attending graduate school. He holds a B.S. in marketing and has an M.B.A. from Loyola College.

John W. Lambeth

Chief Information Officer

John W. Lambeth is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Erickson Retirement Communities and is responsible for overseeing all strategic, governance and operational aspects of the company’s information technology environment.
 
Prior to joining Erickson in January 2008, Mr. Lambeth served as vice president of Information Technology & Security for Blackboard, Inc.  While at Blackboard, he led the IT organization through an initial public offering and established standards necessary to meet rigorous Payment Card Industry and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.  He led the IT organization through multiple mergers and acquisitions.  His 20 years of information technology experience have also included significant roles at CIGNA and Xerox Corporation, where he managed large IT programs and staff operations both in the US and internationally. 

He holds an M.B.A. from the William E. Simon School and a B.A. from McDaniel College.  In addition, he is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

Currently, Mr. Lambeth serves as a board member or committee member for the following organizations:  Society for Information Management, the Kogod School of Business at American University, and the Boy Scouts of America.

Tom Neubauer

Senior Vice President of Sales and Information

Tom Neubauer serves as Erickson’s Senior Vice President of Sales, overseeing all sales activities throughout the country. He is responsible for the development and implementation of sales strategies and tactics, training and development for all sales office personnel and consistent tracking of all sales results.

Prior to joining Erickson, Tom spent the first 14 years of his career at Xerox Corporation. During his time with Xerox, Tom held various sales management and product specialist roles in the Baltimore – Washington marketplace.

Tom graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in Business and Marketing.

Richard Powell

Senior Vice President of Senior Campus Physicians

Mr. Powell is the Vice President of Senior Campus Physicians for Erickson Retirement Communities. He is responsible for providing the Medical Center at each community with administrative support, including provider recruitment and credentialing, medical claims billing, coding and compliance, training, electronic medical record maintenance and support, and reporting.

Prior to joining Erickson, Mr. Powell served with several Baltimore hospitals, HMOs, and commercial health care insurers. He brings to his current position over 25 years of senior operations management experience across these diverse industries.

Mr. Powell holds a degree in business management from California Coast University. He enjoys professional sports and is an active volunteer with several civic organizations.

Bruce Sturm

Senior Vice President of Erickson Advantage®

Mr. Sturm is the Senior Vice President of Erickson Advantage. He is responsible for the leadership, growth, and financial viability of health plan operations. Mr. Sturm has more than 30 years of experience in both operations and finance in the managed care, health insurance, and provider industries.

Prior to joining Erickson, Mr. Sturm was president of Elder Health, Inc. During his tenure, Elder Health experienced significant growth and strengthened both service and financial results. Mr. Sturm has an extensive background in acquisitions, risk contracting, network management, and start-up operations.

Mr. Sturm is an honors graduate of Towson University and a Certified Public Accountant in Maryland.

Scott Thelen

Senior Vice President of Finance

Mr. Thelen is the Senior Vice President of Finance. He is responsible for the financial reporting and central accounting services provided to the communities.

Prior to joining Erickson, Mr. Thelen served as the director of treasury and as regional controller for Integrated Health Services.

He also served for five years in various finance positions at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maryland.

Mr. Thelen received a B.S. in accounting from the University of Baltimore’s Merrick School of Business. He is also a member of Financial Executives International, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

J. Benjamin Unkle, Jr.

Regional Executive Director, Western Region

Mr. Unkle is the Regional Executive Director for all Erickson campuses in Michigan, Illinois, and Texas. He is experienced in both start-up and large campus operations.

Previously, he was the Executive Director at Seabrook in New Jersey, where he led that campus to dramatic gains in resident and staff satisfaction surveys, increased staff retention, and increased financial efficiency. Just prior to assuming overall leadership of Erickson’s western campuses, Mr. Unkle took on a dual assignment of leading Seabrook while opening Eagle’s Trace in Houston, Texas, as the acting Executive Director.

Prior to joining Erickson, Mr. Unkle practiced law for seven years with DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, one of the most prestigious law firms in the nation.

Mr. Unkle holds a B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland, and a J.D. degree with honors from the University of Maryland School of Law. He is active in community and civic affairs, and has served on the University of Maryland Board of Regents as well as the governing board of the Garden State Cancer Center Foundation.

William F. Walker

Senior Vice President of Acquisitions

Mr. Walker is the Senior Vice President of Acquisitions for Erickson Retirement Communities. He is responsible for procurement of suitable sites for Erickson’s expansion into specific cities and the management of the approval process for these sites.

Prior to joining Erickson, Mr. Walker was vice president and partner of Poffel & Walker, Inc., a real estate development firm in Maryland. He co-founded Daft, McCune, Walker, Inc., a consulting firm in Maryland. that specializes in land planning and civil engineering.

Mr. Walker holds a B.S. from West Virginia University. He is an elder at his community church.
