Social Responsibility

At Erickson, we believe that everyone who comes in touch with us has a type of "value proposition" where they ask themselves, "Will I be better off though my involvement with the company than I was before?" Our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility is one way to help them say “Yes!”

Corporate Social Responsibility runs through the culture of Erickson Retirement. It is one of the gifts we share, with our residents, employees, and host communities to celebrate life to all those within and beyond our gates.Recognizing one of our most valuable assets is our employees, we support our employees’ passions and commitments by supporting the charities and groups that they are interested in. They are actively involved through matched giving and paid time off for volunteerism. Last year over $1,000,000 was given to local and national charities that affect our staff and residents. We have a scholarship fund for local students who work in our restaurants, tuition reimbursement, travel vouchers, and uniform assistance for staff. That fund has also gone over $1,000,000.

Our residents have told us that by moving to one of our communities and living in an environment that fosters active giving, they were able to contribute to their community far more than they had ever been able to in their life. We have over 20,000 residents, who upon moving to a supportive, Erickson-managed community, have given back to their host community. Our residents have also been very active in environmentally protecting and enhancing their neighborhoods—a desire to leave the communities in better shape for their grandchildren.

Our current municipal leaders are able to act as references of appreciation for the new communities across America that we hope to serve in the future. We assume a leadership role in these communities that is augmented by our economic impact, our volunteer hours, and our cutting edge commitment to health care for all citizens.

  Our Focus
Erickson strives to support charities that exhibit the following themes:

Successful Aging

Erickson captures the dominant role in changing the way America ages. We support groups and causes which drive policy and practice to redefine aging in America. We lead the national charge to “celebrate the Freedom Years.”

Expanding Education Across the Lifespan

We lead efforts toward systemic change in education. We provide increased access to all segments of the student population. We promote the benefits of intergenerational learning and character education across the curriculum.

Strengthening Communities

Host communities are better because of the Erickson presence. We eagerly give more than we take and proactively increase the quality of life through the fiscal, operational, and environmental impact of our campuses. A community will be notably better due to our presence.

Our Four Strategic Objectives

The value of Erickson’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility runs parallel to and strengthens its four other strategic objectives:

  1. Undisputed Leader in Senior Housing Industry—Erickson looks for ways to capture the dominant role of thought leadership in changing the way America views aging. We support groups and causes that advance the best practices.

  2. Attract and Retain the Best Workers—We distinguish ourselves in the competitive employment field by our reputation as an employer of choice. We continue to attract people that resonate with our values and our position to lead in this arena. Erickson also supports our current employee’s charitable efforts through a variety of ways.

  3. Growth—We are seen as a neighbor of choice for communities across America. Our contributions add value and quality of life, wherever we go. This fact is attractive and sought out by individuals and communities. Our reputation is our strongest growth strategy.

  4. Quality Health Care—Erickson supports best practices in health education and delivery. We take a leadership role in the dialogue of innovation and services as people go through the aging process.
